A Taste of Parisian Life…. and Baguettes

I’ve Been in Paris for Just over 3 Days and am absolutely LOVING it!

When I first arrived i was met by two students of my host university ISC, Julien and Chloe, they were both really warm and welcoming, and laughed off the few communication barriers that came with knowing very little french and they knowing basic english.Having someone meet me at the airport took a heap of the stress out of things, being jet-lagged and in a foreign city was a bit disorienting, but they made it all that much easier, massive snaps to Julien who carried my suitcase through the metro system like a champ.

We took the metro to my new apartment where I met Chanez, the girl I was renting off.  She took me on a bit of a tour around the area as well as introducing me to possibly the coolest cupcake shop EVER, with a ‘Dexter’ themed cake, this was followed by a compulsory stop in for a Baguette for lunch.

So, now I’m living on the North West side of Paris, over the river Sein called Asniers. Housing here is very different that that of Australia because of the high population density, so space is at a premium and apartments are very small compared to home. My little studio apartment is very cute, especially now I’ve  put up photo’s of friends and family, it feels much more homey.

I’m finally over jet lag and have  started to explore the area a bit more, I went the the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe.  the street near the metro was brimming with food and gift stalls. The most AMAZING  smells of hot chocolate, chilli, kababs, hot wine and roasting chestnuts, temptation ended up to much and I had to have some 🙂

I ended up running into an Australian couple in line for some croque monsieur, a traditional french ham and grilled cheese sandwich, we ended up eating together, was the most random encounter, they were both travelling for uni and were telling me about their travels and experiences so far. Seems Aussies always seem to find each other in a crowd!

Now I’m looking forward to new years ever and hoping its not too cold!

Au Revoir!!
